After many years of playing side-guy to a host of touring acts, Zak has put together an intimate collection of original songs. Remedy Sessions is an album’s worth of tracks he has recorded at various sessions over the last several years. Cuts include: two instrumental tracks with his modern string band “The Lizziesâ€: A rhythmic quartet featuring mandolin, dobro, bowed bass, fiddle - some of the hottest string players in Seattle, A song penned by Jemima James, A dark country ballad recorded with ex-band mates from The Casey Neill Trio and Chris Funk of The Decemberists and A couple of sparse retakes of earlier tracks with duet partner Rachel Harrington. The CD prominently features the soulful dobro, pedal and lap steel guitars of Boston’s Mike Grigoni.
